1 BRIDGIXG'TfIE WANG AX UT. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wanganui, Last Night. Tt was decided some time ago to construct another bridge across Hie Wangamii riyer and a contract was let. The contractor eventually ceased operations, as he found that the bottom was too hard to-allow of pile-driving. The matter was held up for some weeks until the _ Publis Works Department sent officials to test whether or not pile-driv-ing was practicable. Evidently the work cannot be done, as it is understood all hands were paid off on Saturday. Much interest is being'evinced in future developments.
