APPEAL COURT.

A SOLICITOR IMPEACHED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Thursday. The Appeal Court sat this morning to hear the application of the Wellington District Law Society for an order to strike off the rolls of barristers and solicitors William George Somerville, Th e misconduct complained of was that, while acting as a solicitor to Catherine Butler, of Wellington, widow, he received £I7OO for the purpose of investing it upon a first mortgage on land. Instead' of so investing, he fraudulently converted the money to his own use, or otherwise fraudulently applied it to some other purpose. There is also another charge of wrongfully appropriating £132 ]ss 4cl. the property of a syndicate. Mr. Cray appeared for the Law Society, .Mr. Somerville being in person. The court consisted of Justice Sir R. Stout, Sir ,T. "Williams, Denniston, Cooper, and Chapman. The case is proceeding.
