ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
; FOUND DROWNED. By Tej egraph—Preaa Association. Thame's, Last Night. The body of a man has been discovered amongst the mangroves on the beach between the Waitakaruru and Piako rivers. It is believed to be that of John Phillips, who h'as been missing for about three weeks, and who, it is believed, fell into the Kauaeranga river. A SUDDEN DEATH. Thames, Last Night. William Rogers, an elderly man and an old and highly respected resident oi Wharepoa, near the Thames, was found dead alongside a cow byre. Rodgers was engaged feeding the cows when he was attacked by a sudden seizure and fell. When noticed, life was extinct. A MINING ACCIDENT. Greymouth, Thursday. Phillip Fin-lay, a young married man, with a family of four, who was engaged in the State mine, was struck by a fall of coal and timber on Tuesday, and died to-day without regaining consciousness. MISSING. Eketahuna, Thursday. A middle-aged man, named Richardson, employed at Nga Rata, Alfredton, is reported to have been missing since Saturday. He left Alfredton on that night to return home. On Sunday morning his horse was found 011 the road. Search parties have been unsuccessful. DROWNED IN THE FLOODS. Masterton, Last Night. Two men were drowned in floods in dif- 1 ferent parts of the lower Wairarapa on Tuesday. A man named Broderson lost i his life while crossing Abbott's Creek on horseback, and another, named Henry Fletcher, was drowned at Pakio while crossing a swollen stream. Broderson's J body was recovered to-day.
