THE GREEN-EYED MONSTER
SENSATIONAL SHOOTING AFFAIR. By Telegraph—Press Association, ; AVairoa, Yesterday. Last night, at a quarter to six, a sensational shooting affair took place at Buchanan's boarding-house in Queen, street, when a man. stood in the doorway and fired a rifle shot into tha kitchen. The 'bullet missed Miss Delia Martin, a waitress, and passed through an eight-inch sill and lodged in a fence. Accused then gave himself up to the police. Jealousy is supposed to be th» cause. Accused has been moody ever since, and has refused food. He is an ex-soldier of the 24th Regiment, and states ihat he was at Omdurman, when Kitchener smashed the Khalifa. He served in South Africa and in the Transvaal. He was taken to town by the police, and remanded till Wednesday.
