ATTEMPTS AT SALVOGE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Gisborne, Yesterday. At the Star of Canada salvage operations continue. It is understood that those in charge intend erecting a bulkhead at No. 2 hold abaft of the damaged portion of the hull, with the hope of pumping the water out of Nos. 2 and 3 holds. The grain and cargo in No. 3 hold is being jettisoned with the object of lightening the fore part of the vessel. THE VESSEL ABANDONED. Gisborne, Last Night. It is now definitely stated that the Star- of Canada has been handed over to the underwriters, and Captains Taylor and Plunkett, of the Loudon Salvage Association, will make another determined attempt to get the vessel off. It is understood that the proposal is now to utilise cement in the interior of the vessel and make an endeavor to pump her out.
