THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION
CHAMP CLARK'S PROTEST. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 1, 11.15 p.m. Baltimore, July 1. Clark's arrival to confer with his supporters resulted in a split among the Clarkites ovvr the proprietary interests* of the candidates. { Addressing the Convention, Clark said { that he demanded Bryan to prove or i retract his outrageous aspersions, and not to come and plead for nomination. Bryan objects to the votes of 91 New York delegates, cast under the unit system. He desires individual polling. \ Bryan is charged with scheming to' make Clark's nomination impossible. Many expect that when Wilson is convinced that he cannot succeed he will give his votes to Bryan.
