THE SUFFRAGETTES
THE WINDOW SMASHERS. Ry Cable—Press Association—Copyright London, June 28. There has been window-smashing in Edinburgh. Aberdeen, Derby, Ilkestone and elsewhere. Notices have been put on broken windows protesting against forcible feeding, and warning the Government that there will be more smashing if they are not given the vote. Two suffragettes seized and attempted to shake the Prime Minister at the Liberal and Colonial Club reception. The suffragettes were hurriedly ejected. There has been an epidemic of windowsmashing in the public buildings at Manchester, Ludlow, Hitehin, Letchworth, Clapham and Regent street, London.
ALLEGED ARSON. Received 30. 5.5 p.m. London. .Tune °O. The suffragettes are suspected of attempting to burn the Hon. C. E. Hobhouse's Corsham residence. A hole was made under the door, and paper saturated with oil was found. Two ladies were seen in the vicinity at four o'clock in the morning. The House of Commons, by 213 votes to 07. declined to reduce Mr. McKenna's salary, as a protest against the forcible feeding of the suffragettes.
