Several newspapers indicate Mr. Lloyd George's intention to launch a great scheme of land taxation by ni.v-iis of single tax proposals like those of Hemy George. Tho Daily Telegraph says that the Government is formulating a policy, of which land and housing reform will be prominent features, for the general election. THE INSURANCE ACT. London, June 28. As the result of the Insurance Act eight of the principal trades unions will have an aggregate of £75,000 yearly, which has hitherto been security for sick pay, free for strike purposes.
THE HOUSE OF LORDS' DUTY. Received 30. 5.5 p.m. London, June 30. Lord Lansdowne, in a speech in London, said that it would be the Lords' duty to exercise at the proper time restricted yet substantial powers to secure to the nation the opportunity to express its convictions on questions of great publie policy.
