FIRES.
LYALL BAY HOUSES BURNED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Wednesday. At an early hour this morning, three dwelling houses on Sutherland road, Lyall Bay, and their contents were deetroyed by fire. The fire originated in a five-roomed cottage occupied by Messrs. P. McCollis, Morton, and F. Hurrell, who had kept some clothes drying in front of the grate. The house was owned by .Tames Mcßean and was insured in the Phoenix Fire Office for £3OO, while the contents were insured in the Ocean Office for £l5O. The second house, of six rooms, burned down was owned and occupied by Mrs, Agnes Mcßain and was insured in the State Office for £4OO. The same office also held a risk of £l5O on the contents. The third house, of five rooms, destroyed was owned by Murdoch and Wallace and occupied by Charles M. Jenkins, and was insured in the South British Office for £4OO. There was no insurance on the contents. If vour property is not insured, call at or ring up the United Insurance Company, Ltd., Devon Street; telephone 108. Webster Bros., district agents.
