FLOODS IN THE SOUTH
VESSELS IN COLLISION. By Telegraph—Press Association. Blenheim, Thursday. Floods in the Pelorus river caused damage to bridges and slight loss of Btock. The schooner Falcon and the scow Eunice, which were moored at the Blackball wharf, broke away and collided, but very little harm was done. DOWNPOUR AT GREYMOUTH. Greymouth, Tuesday. The heavy south-westerly gale which has been blowing for the past few days increased last night to hurricane force. Vivid lightning and thunder commenced at 3 o'clock and continued till 7 o'clock this morning. There was also torrential rain, varied with hail showers. Shipping is at a standstill. There is a strong ran in the river, and little sign of improvement.
