CHRISTCHURCH PRESBYTERY
THE NE TEMERE DECREE. By Telegraph —Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. At the Christchurch Presbytery it was reported that as the committee had, so far, not been able to meet, the petition for presentation to Parliament in connection with the ne temere deeree was not read. The Rev. 11. Wood, convener of the committee, said that, lie had been making inquiries and had received an interesting letter from Canada dealing with marriage laws there. This would be discussed when the report came up. It referred, he said, to a case in the Supreme Court, where a marriage solemnised by an accredited minister had been dissolved.
A deputation from the laymen's missionary movement waited on the Presbytery and asked members to consider the advisability of inviting the General Assembly to meet in Christchurch in 1913. The delegates said that they were of the opinion that this would be a good thing for the Presbyterian cause in Christchurch and Canterbury. . The Acting-Moderator thanked the deputation, and said that the Presbytery would consider their suggestion.
