An abbe named Pitou, who had been missing from Angiers for three days, called on the police at Lyons and asserted that he had been seized by a robber and carried off in a motor car. After his disappearance, Pitou's clothes were found on the bank r" ;> sti-uun, labelled "Death to priests." His desk, according to his story, was Tobbed of two thousand sterling, church moneys, but Pitou eventually confessed that he was sorry he had invented the story, and that he had misappropriated the money.
