Brussels, June 4. /The elections resulted in a Catholic majority of sixteen over the combined Liberals and Socialists. There were many disturbances. The -windows of Catholic clubs were wrecked.
There was £ demonstration at Ghent, and the crowd smash i d the windows of the Nobles' Club with revolver shots.
Three Socialists at Liege were killed and fifteen wounded during a gendarmes' raid on the Socialists' headquarters. Elsewhere the Socialists derailed trams.
The troops occupied Liege. A large number of demonstrators, police and civic guards were injured. Numerous arrests were made.
The crowd at Brussels threatened Catholic establishments. The gendarmerie repeatedly charged them. Many arrests were snade.
