THE ETHICS OF THE STRIKE. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 4, 0.50 p.m. Sydney, June 4. The State Labor Congress has opened. Mr. D. Watson, in his presidential address, said all unionists were aspiring for one grand purpose—the right of the worker to enjoy the fruits of his own labor. Advocating the federation of labor he declared that the need to-day ■was to make strikes absolutely unneccessary. He trusted that they would, cherish the idea that strikes were obsolete weapons. The experience of the Lithgow strike should make them Shudder «t the thought of what a general strike would mean. He concluded: "If our country is in the hands of the capitalist it would be our duty t« free it and possess it as our own." Received 4, 11.40 p.m. Sydney, June 4.

Th« Labor Congress approved of discussing the details of the special commission's report in favor of the Federation of Labor, united upon common interests.
