TUBERCULOSIS IN MEAT
A SUGGESTED CHECK. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, June 3. Dr. Collingridge, health officer at London, reports that he has found tuberculous lesions in Argentine beef at Smithfield, which bore the Government inspection stamp. His report states that apparently the examination, if there is any, is most perfunctory in 'the Argentine. The Government, when informed of the matter, increased the number of inspectors. Dr. Collingridge suggests that a label similar to that used on Australian and New Zealand beef should T>» attached to each quarter, bearing the names of the inspector and slaughterman.
AX OFFICIAL REPORT. <: Received 4, 9.30 p,m. London, June 4. The medical officer of the Port of London Authority, in his report for 1911, referring to Australia's and New Zealand's appointments of veterinary inspectors for London, says that if they cooperate with the sanitary authorities here it will ensure.meat arriving quite sound and free of disease. During the year 67 pigs were condemned for tuberculosis, including 52 Australian pigs, and two from New Zealand.
