THE DRIVERS' UNION. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. In connection with the drivers' trouble H Hunter, secretary of the Drivers' Federation, has despatched the following telegram- to the Clerk of Awards, Auckland, where Mr. Justice Sim, president of the Arbitration Court, is at present:— "Drivers' Federation conference with employers re Dominion award proved abortive. Position very acute. Sitting of the Court to decide drivers' dispute urgently necessary. Can you arrange same within a week from date ?" A SHIPPING STRIKE. Oamaru, Last Night. The wharf laborers took exception to the action of the Union Company in bringing men from Dunedin to cope with the busy shipping season, and refused to work. The men are still idle, and assert that they will return to work when the imported men are taken away. It is asserted: that the Dunedin men will return home to-night.
