BADEN-POWELL AT TIMARU. By Telegraph—Press Association. Timaru, Last Night. General (Baden-Powell was given a very hearty reception on his arrival here, ■where his special train arrived at 9.45, and left twenty minutes later. The Boy and Girl Scouts from the town and country districts turned out to welcome him, and formed up three sides of a square outside the railway station. They gave the Scout rally in very hearty style. The distinguished l soldier was also welcomed by the Mayor, Mr. Hawkey, and J\!r. Craigie, M.'P. After inspecting the feco.uts General Powell briefly addressed them, specially emphasising their motto, "Be prepared," as if they were prepared in youth by the formation of good characters they -would make good citizens in later life. He also appealed to them to act up to the best traditions of a good 1 Scont by doing a kindly action to man or beast every day of 'their lives.

THE DUNEDIN PARADE. Dunedin, Last Night. !Sir Robert Baden Powell arrived in Dunedin this afternoon and was accorded a civic reception at the Town Hall, where a very large number of citizens had assembled. The Mayor (Mr. Wilson) gave an address, in which he referred to some of the leading events in the life of their famous visitor. Mr. J. A. Allen, M.P., referred to the necessity of linking up the Scout movement with the military training system. Sir R. Baden Powell, in reply, thanked the citizens for their very warm reception. He also touched briefly on the Boy Scout movement, and the characteristics of discipline, .attention and self-sacrifice, which it was sought to develop in the boys. Subsequently Lieutenant-General Baden Powell inspected the Senior and Junior Cadets and the Boy Scouts at Forbury Park. He had a most enthusiastic welcome at the hands of a very large crowd. He will deliver a lecture to-night, and will attend a church parade of Boy Scouts to-morrow, leaving for Invercargill on Monday morning.
