EXPLOSION ON A SCOW
THAT LIGHTED MATCH. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. An alarming explosion of benzine oc-' cnrrcd on the scow Echo at Lyttelton this morning. The master of the vessel, Mclntyre, and Miller, a, shipwright, were making an inspection of the engine-room, when the former struck a match. An explosion occurred instantly, blowing out a partition and doing other damage. Mclntyre and Miller escaped with slight burns. The woodwork caught fire after the explosion, and damage was done to the extent of £SO.
