j LEWIS SENTENCED. !' By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Monday. ) Thomas John Lewis, who escaped from tiie Terrace Gaol on Thursday last., and was recaptured- on Saturday, was j to-day sentenced to a further year's imprisonment. i ' NEW ZEALAND APPLES, j Wellington, Monday. A cablegram which has been received by the Prime Minister states that the shipment of apples by the Kaipara from w Zealand, consisting of 5000 cases, arrived in London in excellent condition. In the pnst the Government paid a bonus of Id per lb and in the present instance the Government offered the officers of the steamer a bonus of £SO if the fruit arrived in good condition. There are at present in New Zrnnlnd > orders for 20,000 cases of apples for the Argentine.
