THE MISSISSIPPI FLOODS
OUTBREAK 00? FEVER. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright New York, April 12. Reports everywhere indicate that the subsidence of the floods has been followed by serious outbreaks of fever among the refugees in the camps. Six thousand people are homeless. There have been several fatal cases of fever and some of smallpox already. A (FRESH INUNDATION. THOUSANDS HOMELESS. Received 15, 12.20 a.m. New York, April 14. Kew Orleans reports that the Mississippi broke a levee near Alsatia. A thousand square miles of country are flooded, and thousands of families are homeless. Steamboats have been despatched to the aid of the refugees.
