Mabel Small has been committed for trial at Cummock on a charge of murdering 'her mother, Jane Johnson, on September 14. Accused made a written statement, saying that something told her to remove some strychnine from ft bottle. She then visited her mother. The latter felt terribly queer, and something told her to put strychnine in' her mother's medicine. Her mother subsequently drank a portion and died. SIR WILLIAM LYNE. Sydney, March 11. Sir William Lyne, who was taken ill on Saturday, has regained consciousness, and there is some hope for his recovery. THREE SHOPS DESTROYED. Sydney, March 11. A fire at Manilla destroyed three shops.
