WAITARA WEST ROAD BOARD

MONTHLY MEETING. At the monthly meeting of the above Board there were present: Messrs. J. S. Connett (chairman), French, Hall and Turnbull. Correspondence was read from the Moa Road Board, forwarding draft agreement re upkeep of the Davis road; from Mr. H. B. Lepper, chairman of Lepperton Factory, agreeing to pay half cost of repairs to Factory road;' and from Ocean Accident Insurance Company, re increased liability under the amendment to the Workers' Compensation Act. The chairman reported that Messrs. Honnor & Sarten had requested that aloan of £BO be raised for metalling the upper portion of the Bertrand road, and the elerk was directed to take the necessary steps, the surfaceman to test the outerop of metal alongside the said road. Mr. French reported that he had inspected the wooden culvert on the Karaka road, and considered that either the iron pipe near the culvert be used, or that the present culvert be iloured and lowered. Resolved that three membra inspect the culvert, and have power to do the work they consider necessary. The draft agreement forwarded by the Moa Road Board was approved, subject ( to the numbers of sections included in rating area being inserted. . Surfaceman Giddy reported that Jenkins and Johnson had delivered 4G yards on the Richmond road from Crowe's and 24 yards on the Manutahi east, road. The weeds on Sisson Terrace re-, 1 quired cutting. Surfaceman Palmer reported that Haskell &. Co. had delivered 56 yards on the Waitara road, and 52 yards on the Te Arei road; they also offered to cart metal dumped by Montefiore by the station gate for 2s 6d per yard, provided the Board pay the spreader. The Waitara road required about 200 yards more metal for repairs. Two culverts on Everett road had been put in, and the culvert on the York road raised to water level. Mr. R. Tate had promised to repair the Karaka road as soon as possible. It was resolved that the filling on York road be fenced, and that the chairman and Messrs. Surrey & Turnbull interview the users of Waitara road re contributing to the cost of repairing same. The surfacemen were instructed to clean the culvert by Mr. Well's on the Cross road, also to cut the weeds on Sisson Terrace. As no tenders were received for supply of boulders for ®khe concrete work on Manutahi East road bridge, it was decided to request the contractors to quote for delivering gravel from the Waiwakaiho. Accounts amounting to £4O were passed for payment, and the Board adjourned.
