HOME MARKETS. London, March 10. The quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 3,625,000 quarters, and for the Continent 1,215,000 quarters. Atlantic shipments 146,000 quarters, Pacific 25,000 quarters. The total shipments to Europe for the week amounted to 1,010,000 quarters, including Argentina 221,000, Russian 135,000, Danubian 120,000, Indian 120,000, Australian 136,000.

HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. By Telegraph—Press Awooiatio*. Wellington, Yesterday. The following is the High Commissioner's cablegram under date London, March 9, quotations, unless Otherwise specified, .being average market prices on spot:— General.—The strike is seriously impeding business. Mutton.—The market is dull. Canterbury 4d (nominal), North Island 3%d, Australian 3%d, River Plate 3%. Lamb.—The market is steady, although there has been less demand. Canterbury other than Canterbury sd, Australia 4y 2 d, River Plate 4%d.

Beef.—The market is dull. New Zealand not quoted, and none offered in the market.

Butter. —The market is lifeless, and there is only a small demand; buyers are cautious. The average price for the week for choicest New Zealand is 1275, Australian 1235, Argentine 1225, Danish 13Gs, Siberian 1265.

Cheese. The market is firm, and there are small supplies on hand. New Zealand white 73s 6d, colored 735.

Hemp. The market is quiet and steady. There is no change in the prices, viz.: Spot, Xrw Zealand good fair £2l 10s, fair grade £2O 10s, fair current Manila £2l 10s, forward shipment New Zealand good fair £2l 10s, fair grade £2O 10s, fair current Manila £22. The output from Manila for the week was 30,000 bales. The stock of New Zealand hemp is 301 tons.

Wool.—The second series of colonial wool sales, which wore postponed, will commence on April 11.

Wheat. The market is a shade weaker in anticipation of heavy arrivals.

Mutton and Lamb—River Plate shipments received during February, 1912: London, mutton 71,704 carcases, lamb 23,184 carcases; Liverpool, 150,112 mutton, 48,08*7 lamb; Hull, 0128 mutton, 1152 lamb; Newcastle, 12,633 mutton, 1640 lamb; Southampton, 12,428 mutton, 12,401 lamb; Cardiff, 8361 mutton, 500 lamb; Plymouth, 1118 mutton, 620, lamb; Ireland, 3862 muttbn, 60 lamb. Totals, 272,436 carcases mutton, 87,644 carcases lamb (February, 1011, 294,873 mutton, 54,747 lamb).
