BAZAAR AT FITZROY

There was plenty to see, do, and buy j at the bazaar held in the Fitzroy Hall yesterday in aid of the local Primitive Methodist Church. The debt of the church at present stands at £l4O, and the object wae to reduce it, if possible, by £SO. The ladies of the church have been engaged in preparing l for the event for the best part of twelve months, and thanks to their efforts there was a tempting array of merchandise with which to attract prospective buyers. One large bench fairly groaned with the fat of the land, or rather the district. The various stalls were presided over as follows: Plain, Mesdames E. A. Foote, M. Kibby, R. Bellringer; Christian Endeavor, Misses L. Foote and E. Martin; Sunday School, Miss A. Connett; lollie, Misses I. Pepperill and E. Griffiths; fruit salads and jellies, Misses B. Bray and N. Aroa; flowers, Miss B. Charteris; refreshments, I Mesdames R. Pepperill, Francis and I Misses B. Cutting and H. Griffiths. The fair was opened in the afternoon by the Mayor (Mr. G. Browne), and in the evening the throng of patrons made merry with side-shows and confpetitions of various kinds.
