By Telegraph— Special to News. Wanganui, Last Night. ■ Royal Arms broke down. The trouble is in the fetlock, and the horse will not start at the meeting. Training was uninteresting this morning. Golden Loop and Master Sylvia ran six furlongs nicely. Dearest went a mile and a half, tiring at the finish. Domino shaped better over the same distance. Theodore easily beat Merrie Frank over six furlongs in lmin. ISsec. St. Gate could not extend Electrakoff in a six furlongs spin, cut out in lmin. 16sec. Midnight Sun and Undecided went a mile together in lmin. 46sec. 'Bronze showed well over ten furlongs in 2min: 14sec, finishing fast, Ermengarde accompanying her home.

TURF TOPICS. (By "Moturoa.") The Wanganui Cup horse Maxwell passed through New Plymouth on Monday morning, and was railed right on to Wangami). Before leaving Ellerslie the son of Soult was responsible tor twa splendid gallops, nine furlongs in 1.55 one morning, and later in the week Maxwell went better than Santa Rosa in a fast run mile. Maxwell will be ridden by Mary Ryan, who was successful on Nonette and Mars.,
Final payments for the Wanganui Cup saw all in with the exception of Royal Arms. The latter could have had no chance over the distance, but all the same his eleventh-hour defection came "as an unpleasant surprise to many Tarana'ki punters. There must have been some fine dividends at the Otahuhu Trots. A northern writer has worked it out that £1 invested on every horse taking part at the meeting would have resulted in a profit 0/ nearly £2O to the .speculator. The writer has been informed by ono' of Byron's party that the hsrse is sure to start in the Flying Handicap at Wanganui.
Parable was ridden to victory in the Dunedin Cup by the veteran horseman, 9'. McCombe, who scored on Casket in 1895 and Jupiter in 1901. Practically everything engaged in the Wanganui Cup, with the exception of Kauroa and Uhlando, has been tipped as a certain winner for Thursday's race. Undecided, Midnight. Sun, Bronze and Dearest are most talked about by track watchers, and the next day or so will probably find Midnight Sun in the position of first favorite.
- Antarctic is gaing nicely at Ellerslie, and should be well forward for winter racing. *
Bonny Jean, winner of the first hurdle race at the South Auckland meetiig is a full sister to those well-known 'chasers Capitol and Red McGregor. Autumnus and Ermengarde galloped smartly at Wanganui yesterday, and much interest is attached to their meeting in the Wanganui Stakes on Saturday. ' I A good word is spoken for Lockwood. I The son of St. Ambrose shaped nicely at Woodville and pleased the touts at Wanganui yesterday. Lockwood will have to be fairly smart to "live" with Styx & Co. in the Juvenile Handicap. Undecided is looking very well, and ! made many friends by his determined J style of galloping yesterday. Wellington sports won't hear of his defeat, and > the horse's Wellington Cup victory is al very strong argument, too! 1
