EXPERIMENTS WITH A NEW RIFLE. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Received 21, 9.30 p.m. London, February 21. In the House of Commons Lord Haldane, Minister for War, replying to Lord Roberts' amd others' criticisms, said that, viewing the arms as a whole, the British Army was as well equipped as any in the world. Tests, he said, were being carried out with a new rifle which, if it fulfilled its claims, would be the finest in the world. It was not automatic, but he differed regarding the advantages of an automatic rifle.
