TURF TOPICS. (By "Moturoa.") Races at Woodville: and Dunedin today. The Wangnnui Cup will be run tomorrow week. Golden Loop and Master Sylvia should run well at Woodville. H. Gray on Domino and L. Wilson on Undecided are reported Wanganui Cup engagements. Sublime, Midian, Gaby and Sartis have beien scratched for all engagements at Woodville! Masterpiece has many friends for the Dunedin Cup, and is reported to be in great nick. B. Deeley, who piloted Sir Knox in his winning effort at Hawera, will ride the horse in the Cup at Woodville. Deeley's luck is in at present. Silver Cluse was sold after the Taranaki meeting for £l5O to the Auckland sportsman, Mr. J. Jackson. The horse will be trained by G. Delaney at the Hutt. The much-boomed mare, Miss Roberts, who failed at Hawera after getting a bad run, will be amongst the runners in the Hack Scurry at Woodville. Maxwell has come into the betting for the Wanganui Cup,- and Trainer"McManemin is due to arrive in Wanganui with the Auckland horse on Thursday. Effort has been taken to Dunedin and will carry top_ weight in the Welter today. The opposition does not look very formidable—on paper. R. Hatch will ride Rose Noble and J. Beale St. Aidan in the Dunedin Cup. Rose Noble ran into a place last year, and on recent Ricearton running should ran a good race. It is stated that Deeley will have the mount on Goodform at Woodville to- i day. ' )

The progeny of Carbine only won £1426 in England last year. "Old Jack" is now 27 years old and his progeny have won £92,875 in England. Merrivonia is now stepping out briskly' at Trenthanr, and is considered a sure 'starter in the Wanganui Cup. ; Mr. D. J. Goodwin has tired of Topic, ,and the. filly will be sold at Wanganui shortly. „ f If Ohinee is started at Wdodville she wijl command a big following. She failed to win a race last season, but on Taranaki form is evidently on the upgrade.

Seaman is jumping well and is leniently treated with 9st 91b in the Hack Hurdles at Wanganui. The Juvenile Handicap at Wanganui will be a fine race if Royal Scotch, Labor Day, Rangiatua, Sanguinary, Styx and Bon Ton go to the post. A speedy crowd this over six furlongs! Jockey B. Deeley, who is riding in great form at present, topped the list of winning rides at the Taranaki meeting with four firsts and three seconds. C. Emmerson piloted three winners, H. Gray two, and others to score were T. Pritchard, C. Brown, C. Price, A. McMullen, R. Gilbert, R. Kelly, an d R. Hatch.

_ Mr. W. 0. B. McDonough, a San Francisco horse fancier and breeder, has just secured the highest price ever paid for a shipment of American thoroughbreds into Great Britain. IBs five yearlings brought 2715 guineas, or about 13,385 dollars. One of the colts, a bay gelding by Ossorby—Santabella, almost a full brother to Ormdndale, the 1005 Futurity winner, was knocked down for 5600 dollars, believed to be the highest price ever paid for an American yearling in the United Kingdom. AH of the colts were raised on the McDonough farm, near San Mateo. Each of these colts was a descendant of the famous Ormonde, imported by Mr. McDonough at a cost of 150,000 dollar*.
