A REPORT DENIED. By Cable*—Press Association—Copyright. Adelaide, February 15. The managing editor of the newspaper Worker denies that the staff's demands were conceded as the result of a strike. The decision will be given after a conference with the Australian Journalists' Association. The Worker will gladly pay the scale of wages then fixed.

SHORTENING WORKING WEEK. Sydney, February 15. The report of the Royal Commission .which enquired into female and juvenile labor in shops and factories, recommends a 44-hour week spread over six days, and opposes the five-day week proposal.

DR. MAWSON'S STATION. Sydney, February 15. A wireless message received from the Ulimaroa, en route to Hobart, reports that the wireless station at Macquarie Island has been damaged by blizzard. All is well otherwise. No news has been received from the Mawson party.

A MISSING BOAT ARRIVES. Sydney, February 15. The Island steamer has reported that Capell's missing boat has arrived safely at Truk, Caroline Islands. CURIOUS TIDAL PHENOMENON. Perth, February 15. A singular phenomenon lias occurred at Cossiack, there being' three tides between eight and eleven in the forenoon, with a. rise and fall of about three feet.
