SWIMMING CLUB.
;Mr. J. Masters, the Mayor of Stratford, has offered to present to the Stratford Amateur Swimming Club a challenge cup, to be awarded to the winner of the club's championship. The championship will be decided by a series of events over
all usual distances, with a view of ascertaining the best all-round swimmer in the elub. Points will be awarded for places in each event, and the winner of the highest number of points holds the trophy for a year, besides which he will receive a trophy, probably a gold medal. One of the conditions is that the cup can be won only by a competitor in each of the six events. Mr. Masters intends to select the cup personally when away on his holiday trip next month, with a view of securing a suitable trophy which, in his own words, "will be worth swimming fof."
