BOROUGH COUNCIL.
WPRES COMMITTEE REPORT. The following recommendations are embodied in the monthly report of the Works Committee of the 'New Plymouth Borough Council, which will be submitted at to-night's; meeting:— That the seal of .the borough be. affixed to the following documents, and that Crs. Morey and Am'bury be appointed to sign the same on behalf of the borough: Grant of easement from Sash and Door' Factory, grants of all easements and other documents for Mangotuku stream diversion and filling in Morley and Gaine street?, agreement with H. Findley for the purchase by the council of sections 14 and 16, Henui extension No. 1; that the electrical engineer be instructed to instal a street light at the north end of Autere street; that the letter from Mr. J. Hale re alleged damage to his property by overflow from reservoir be referred to the borough en--gineer to report; that Mr. H. Bauchope be again notified to remove the fence and other obstructions in Lemon street adjoining his property; that upon their passing a practical examination in plumbing to be held by the Taranaki Education. Board, licenses be granted to Messrs. W. Francis and E. J. Kalchert, such licensee to be conditional on their passing in theoretical plumbing before January 1, 1913; that consideration of the letter from the St. Aubyn Town Board with reference to forming, metalling and construction." of a culvert at Cutfield road be deferred pending a conference with the board on the subject; that a copy of the letter from the Good Templars' Society with reference to their hall be forwarded to the Fire Board; that permission be granted to the Garrison Band to take up a collection in aid of the funds of the Plunket Nurse Committee at a concert to be given in Kawaroa Park; that the Estimates Committee be recommended to provide the Bum of £6O in next year's estimates f«r the purpose of numbering houses in the ; borough; that the borough engineer be Instructed to erect a finger-board at the Intersection of Mill road, Frankley road, and road to Westown; that the borough engineer he instructed to prepare specifications for forming, metalling (14ft), i concrete kerbing and channelling, and forming and covering footpaths for the new street proposed to be laid out through the property known as "Mitchtnson's Gardens," and that a copy of such specifications be forwarded to Messrs. Sladdeh and Palmer, with an intimation that the construction of such new street must be in accordance with such specifications, and the work carried out to the satisfaction of the borough engineer; that the borough engineer report with reference to the street levels j at the intersection of Lemon street and ) the proposed new street; that application be made to the Harbor Board for | permission to remove boulders from the > beach near the mouth of the Waiwakaiho river, the council to pay such royalty as may be, agreed upon; that consideration of the letter from the Mangorei Road Board re damage to reservoir reserve by storm water from the Mangorei road be deferred; that provision be made in next year's estimates for the purchase of a 36 h.p. electric I motor for the crusher and that in the meantime the borough engineer submit an estimate of the cost of same; that the borough engineer be instructed to k£ a 4in " wa ter-main in Kowhai street, Fitzroy, as far as materials in stock will | permit, and also to lay a s/ 4 in. p i pe j n . Karamu street about two chains to eni able Mr. E. Martin's property to be connected with the-water supply; that the borough engineer be authorised to lay the sewer in Aubrey street from Morley to Weymouth streets (estimated coat £122); that his Worship the Mayor be authorised to obtain the necessary easements for the sewer from Aubrey street to King street, and also the easement required for widening of the filling at Hobson street; that the letter from Mr. T. Drake with reference to the portion • of Normanby street, Fitzroy, in front j of his property, be referred to the borj ough engineer to deal with; that his Worship the Mayor be authorised to | arrange for the immediate possession of j sections 14 and 16, Henui extension No. 1, and to have erected such shelter fences and notice boards, etc., as are required by the provisions of the Impounding Act, 1908, with a view to the above sections being declared a public pound, and that upon such requirements being complied with public notice be given appointing the said sections to be a public pound; that Ernest Old be and is hereby appointed poundkeeper for the above-men-j troned pound.
