Jacobus to a savings bank withdrawal receipt. He was found guilty and re-, ceived twelve months' imprisonment with N hard labor. Frederick William Green stood his second trial on a charge of theft of money, the property of the Wellington Working Men's Club. The jury again disagreed and Justice Chapman ordered a new trial for next session. i ap£AB,U SESSIONS. Timaru, Last Night.. At the Supreme Court to-day a. bankrupt contractor was refused a discharge because he had not'given full information to the Official Assignee. An appeal from the magistrate's decision at Oamaru in dispute over impounding fees was dismissed: The question was whether mileage to the pound must be paid through the stock delivered upon the way. The judge held that the law entitles a claim to mileage to the pound however distant. Decision was reserved in an appeal by S. B, Wightman against a decision of the Canterbury Land Board at the ballot for the Mackenzie runs. Appellant was runner up for one of the runs, and claims that he should have been declared the winner, as the first drawer was not "immediately" ready to make the necessary cash payments, ten minutes passing before the cheque was paid in. Decision was also reserved in' an appeal against the Timaru magistrate's decision in fining the Farmers' Co-operative Association, for employing a contract carter after hours in contravention of the Shops Act. . DIVORCE CASES. Palmerston North, Last Night. At the- Supreme Court to-day George William Gibbs obtained a decree nisi, to be made absolute in three' months, against Eva E. Gibbs, respondent, and G. A. Thompson, co-respondent, on grounds of»adultery. Petitioner is a schoolmaster at Glen Oroua. Decrees nisi were also granted in the divorce cases of George James Kew versus Hannah Mary Laura Kew, on the ground of adultery with William Nielsen, and Isabella 0. McPherson against David Alexander McPherson, on the ground of desertion. Neither of the two latter caseß was defended. " ■', ,
