MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
At yesterday's sitting of the MftiriStrate's Court, before Mr. A. Crooke, S3L / W. Samuel Brown, whp.was arrested at Waitara on the 31st January, was charged with having failed to provide for the prospective birth of his Meait* mate child. b Mr. A. H. Johnstone appeared for accused, and on Ms application bail wa» reduced to two securities of £SO each and £25 on his own security. On the application of Senior-Sergeant Haddrell accused was remanded to Ingle; wood, leave being given to have thi venue changed to Stratford, if arrangements could be made to that end. 7' Several by-law cases were heard at the instance of Inspector Tipping. .For hosing a side-walk during prohibited hours, Wm. Pellew was toed 5» ' with costs 7s, and Jameg Home was inu cted in a similar penalty for havinif cycled at night without a light. W.. Johnson pleaded guilty to havinc driven at night without lights, and wa* fined 5s with costs 7«. On a charge- of riding a bicycle after sunset without a light, a young lady-*, first offender—was convicted and" discharged.
