OIL AT NO. 5. When the last sand pump was extracted from No. 5 well, Moturoa, on Saturday night, the material drawn up was found to be strongly impregnated with oil. At 3.30 a.m. yesterday (Sunday) oil began to come up between the casings and continued flowing till well ou in tue afternoon. The finding of oil at this comparatively shallow depth (about 2200 ft) is regarded as highly satisfactory, and further operations at this bore will be awaited with considerable interest. ' ; Mr. IT. J. Brown, chairman of the British Oil Trust, Ltd., is expected from the south tlii.H evening. It is probable Mr.' Brown will leave for Australia towards the end of the week, returning to New Plymouth at the end of the month.:
