A, Sydney cable states that Archbishop and Mrs. Wright are passengers' by the Ulunaroa on a month's holiday in New Zealand.

Mr. Arnold, late M.P. for Dunedin Central, on Friday night received separate presentations from the prison warders of New Zealand and from his political supporters. Mr. A. Cliff, secretary of the Taranaki Agricultural Society, leaves by the mail train this morning to attend the Feilding show, where he will compete in the jumping and hack classes. „ £ win ß to il'ness Mr. H. S. Fitzherbert, b.M., has been granted leave of absence. Mr. Alfred Crooke (who was relieving Mr. Fitzherbert a short time ago) will arrive here on Wednesday evening to take up the court duties. The Danncvirke Advocate understands that Pastor Eies has practically completed the exchange of some of his Dannevirke properties for an extensive farm m the New Plymouth district. It is understood that the exchange does not necessarily mean that the pastor and family will be leaving Dannevirke. The funeral of the late Mr. Alfred Marsh took place on Saturday at Te Henui cemetery, and was largely attended. Amongst those who assembled to pay their last respects were many okl settlers, including about 30 veterans and a number of his boyhood companions, ine Rev. Kempthorne read the service at the graveside.

The following are the successful New Zealand candidates for cadetships at the Royal Australian Military College at Duntroon (New South Wales):—A Carnngton and C. Opie (Christchurch), D. Bremner E. Rawlings and W. Stevens (Auckland), and G. Hume (Gisborne). there were fifteen candidates for ten cadetships, but only the six above mentioned _ qualified. The other four vacancies will be filled by selection
