RAID BY ARMED BANDITS.

ENCOUNTER WITH POLICE. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Cairo, January 24. Several armed bandits raided the house of a rich native contractor near Cairo, assaulted the occupiers, and stole much money and jewellery. They fired on the mounted police, who replied till their 'ammunition was exhausted. The brigands escaped, but the police pursued and captured three. The contractor is dead, and six inmates of the house are in a precarious condition.
