ADJOURNED MEETING. The adjourned: meeting was held last evening. Present: His Worship the Mayor (Mr. G. W. Browne), Crs. Ambury, Buxton, Buttimore, Clark, Hartnell, Jackson, Kibby, Mannix, Stacker,) Gilbert, and Morey. WORKS COMMITTEE. It!was resolved that the Council coi operate with the Taranaki County, . Council in "preventing further removal of. p stone, earth, or other material from the J 1 Waiwakaifro riVer within ten chains of j the Waiwakaiho bridge, and that the | ! necessary notices be served on the re-; > spective occupiers of land abutting on i the river. J • Tkat the offer of Mr. V. H. Beal to permit the slope of the filling in Morleyj ■ street and Gaine street encroaching on, ■ his property, on the terms mentioned in > his letter on January 16, be accepted. | That upon the borough solicitors re-' » porting that all the necessary deeds of r easement for the work have :been com- • ; pleted, the borough engineer be instruct- • 'ed to proceed with the connection of the I Morley street culvert, and the" filling in Morley and Gaine streets, the work to be carried out by day labor. j GENERAL. Cr. Jackson was appointed the Council's representative on the New Plymouth Technical Advisory Committee. It was decided to inform the High School Board that the Council" has no 1 desire that the trees on the western end • of Hendrie street should be cut down. ' j The borough engineer is to be inn structed to continue the pipe from Buckl ley Terrace to the beach half a chain • further, at a cost of £5. The engineer 1 is also to proceed with the forming and , metalling of Molesworth street east as i far as the loan money is available. i His Worship was empowered to confer : with the District Engineer of Railways , and endeavor to arrange a settlement of • the Leach street question in terms of the . agreement drafted 'by the borough . solicitor. It was decided that, in the opinion of the Council, the barb wire fence erected near the Devon street frontage of Mr. Montefiore's is liable to cause injury or • damage t t« any person passing alob% such street, and that written notice be • so servedon Mr. Montefiore, requiring him within three calendar months- to • remove such barbed wire. The Railway Department is to be asked for permission to lay water pipes . along the railway line from Bell road to Bayly road. The Mayor was appointed a delegate to confer with the chairman of the St. Aubvn Town BoaTd for the purpose of fixing the weekly half-holiday. j
