LONDON WOOL SALES.

Received 17, 9.30 p.m. London, January 17. At the wool sales 9314 bales were offered. There was a capital selection. The attendance was large and the competition spirited, chiefly from the representatives of Yorkshire and German spinners. Merinos were unchanged, and crossbreds were 5 per cent, above the December closing rates. THE UNION BANK. Received 17, 11 p.m. London, January 17. The Union Bank has declared a dividend of 10 per cent., with a bonus of 2 per cent. The premises account has been written down by £IO,OOO, and the reserve increased by £20,000, there being carried forward £4*2,000. (BRITISH CONSOLS. Consols are at £77 ss. LONDON MARKETS. Wheat. Ten thousand quarters of South Australian January shipment sold at 36s 9d. Tin.—Spot £lß9s; three months, £lB7 ss. There are persistent rumors that a new international syndicate has been formed to control tha market.
