FIRES.

A HALL BURNT. By Telegraph—Press Association. j Auckland, Last Night, j The Holy Trinity Parish Hall, at Otahuhu, was destroyed by fire on Sunday afternoon. The hall and furniture, including the piano, were insured for £l9O. The hall was a very old landmark, being built at the time the Imperial troops were camped at Otahuhu. RAILWAY COTTAGE BURNED. Eketahuna, Monday. A five-roomed railway cottage in the railway yards, occupied by G. Southby, was destroyed by fire on Sunday morning, with its contents. The occupants were away. The causie of the fire is unknown. The furniture was insured for £SO in the Yorkshire office. MILL GUTTED. Christehurch, Last Night. A little before 7.30 this morning, the Kaiapoi Fire Brigade turned out to a fire in the Kaiapoi Shipping and Trading Company's sawmill, at the back of Hansen's buildings in Charles street. The mill, a large corrugated iron structure, containing a good deal of timber, was a mass of flames, and the brigade centred its attention on adjoining buildings, | mosWy sheds, which were considerably I damaged. The mill was gutted and the 1 boiler and engine were rendered useless. i The other machinery was also destroyed. WAVERLEY HOUSE DESTROYED. - I A house at Waverley, owned by Mrs. Fife, of Marton, and occupied by Mr. G. W. Taylor, was destroyed by fire on ~Sunday evening.
