LAn old man named Richard Walters, who died suddenly at Point Chevalier a few days ago, was reputed to be an old army officer. It is stated that lie had proved' his title as the heir to an estate in Chancery worth £3,000,000, being the only surviving member of a well known Exeter family. A witness at the inquest stated that the old man refused to proceed with his claim, declaring that at his age, 74 years, the reward would not be commensurate with the worry.
