A DROWNING FATALITY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. A trimmer named William Brown, from the steamer Opawa, was drowned in the harbor late last night. Deceased was going aboard the ship, and fell from the gangway into the water. All efforts to save him failed. Brown was 27 years of age, a native of Scotland. He joined the Opawa at Wellington this trip. A PECULIAR 'FATALITY. Christehurch, Last Night. Some youths were skylarking in an hotel at Leithfield this afternoon, and one named Shaw was punched in the neck. The neck shortly after started to swell, and a doctor was procured, who said that a blood vessel was broken. He hastened off for another doctor to per'form an operation, but before they could return Shaw was dead. SUICIDE BY HANGING. Dunedin, Last Night. A single man named George Chandler, employed by Robert Bell, farmer, at Waihoia, disappeared on Wednesday night, and to-day big dead body was found hanging to a tree in a bush on the farm. Deceased told his sister a few days previously that he intended to do away with himself, but gave no reason.
