CLEARLY A FAILURE

THE CONDOMINIUM. DUAL CONTROL IN THE NEW HEBRIDES WANTING. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Sydney, December 26. Judge Roseby, British representative of the Condominium Court of the New Hebrides, has arrived in Sydney. He refuses to discuss the statement that a proposal that France and Britain should divide possession of the New Hebrides is being seriously considered by these Powers. The Herald says that whatever the proposals are something must be done, as the condominium is manifestly a failure. "Australia must be consulted," adds the paper. "We should feel chagrined if a division left Britain weaker in the New Hebrides, even if it strengthened her elsewhere. We should let the British Government know how far we are prepared to go if money is required."
