AUCKLAND TRAMWAYS TROUBLE SETTLED. By Telegraph —Press Association. Auckland, Thursday. This morning a meeting of tramway employees resolved, by 15S .to <S, to accept the terms offeree by the company. Probably the same resolution will be carried by the meeting of the other shift to-night. The threatened strike on Christmas Eve is thus averted. HAPPILY SETTLED. Auckland, Last Night. The tramway trouble is happily settled, and the men have agreed to accept the amended offer of the company, brings ing the total concessions made .by the company to over £IO,OOO per annum, as compared with the £ 10,000 demanded. AN ABORTIVE CONFERENCE. Napier, Thursday. The Union Company's Wanaka is still held up owing to the waterside workers refusing to work except at increased pay. A conference with the local manager failed to reach an agreement, and 'the local office is awaiting instructions from headquarters. The Wanaka has 2000 tons of Newcastle coal aboard.
