A DROWNING FATALITY. * ,■ By Telegraph—Press Association. WhangaTei, Monday. Sydney Nelson, of Kiripaka, aged 11, when crossing a bridge yesterday afternoon, fell into the. Nguiiguru river and was drowned. The only witness was his young brother, who was unable to assist. The body has been recovered. A WAGGONER INJURED. Gisborne, Monday. A waggon, meeting a motor-car on the Hill road, went over the bank. The waggoner, J. Robertson, was pinned underneath, and had the of a leg, which had previously been amputated, broken. He was also severely bruised about ithe face and had his back injured. He was removed to the hospital. A WARNING TO PARENTS. Auckland, Monday. ' The nine-months-old daughter of Daniel King, a resident of Ponsonby, was found dead' in bed on Sunday morning. The child slept in a bed with its parents, and, as it was apparently suffocated, it is surmised that it was overkin. ~ THE DEADLY LYSOL. Thames, Monday. Charles Peel, aged 43, committed suicidi yesterday by swallowing a quantity of ly&ol. At the inquest Dr. Walsh, medical superintendent of Thames Hospital, deprecated the indiscriminate end unrestricted «a le of such deadly poison as lysol, and said he thought the authorities, in the ipteres-t of the public, should take some action. A FATAL FALL. Timaru, Last Night, An elderly man named James Bradding, living in a tent in a quarry, wihilst going home oni Saturday night fell from the top of a quarry bank. His head struck a projecting rock, and he was found dead this morning, YOUNG MAN'S SUDDEN END. Dunedin, Last Night. A young man named Hugh Spiers was admitted to the hospital a little after 10 a.m. to-day, apparently suffering from a fit, and he died about half an hour afterwards. Deceased came from Chjistdhiurch on the 11th inat.; and had been staying with friends at Wuorihauglh. Last night he appeared ill, but refused to have a doctor called in. He rose about 10 a.m. to-day, nmd went to an outhouse to wash, but fell on the floor, apparently in a fit.
