LOSS OF THE DELHI.

Captain Ilayward commanded the Delhi, which is hardly strained and leaking in three holds. Paris. December 14. The Government has congratulated ■ the officers and crew of the Triant on the gallantry displayed in connection with the stranding of the Delhi. London, December 14. All the Delhi's passengers have been landed. Sir George Reid telegraphed to the Duke and Duchess of Fife congratulation on their rescue. Several of the Royalties are still in bed at Tangier, awaiting their luggage. They are suH'ering no ill ell'ccts. King George telegraphed that he was much relieved that they had safely landed. The Delhi's bulkhead has yielded, and the position is now more serious. The Premier, on behalf of the House of Commons, paid a tribute to the extraordinary gallantry of the French sailors, regretting the loss of life that took place. THE PASSENGERS' PLIGHT. ROYAL JEWELS LOST. LASCARS DROWNED. ROCKET APPARATUS USED. Received 16, 12.30 a.m. , Tangier, December 15. Most of the Delhi's passengers escaped half naked. The natives did their best to relieve the passengers. The Princess' Royal jewel case was washed from the boat and lost. Three Lascars were drowned while taking passengers through the surf. After the Duko of Fife had landed, almost all the boats capsized owing to the heavy surf, and the passengers waded waist deep towards the shore. The last passengers were rescued by means of a rocket apparatus.
