At the meeting of the Wanganui Education Board last flight the question of the use of schools as polling booths on election day was discussed. A motion was moved by Mr. Dixon that the schools should be closed on election day, the mover claiming that neither the children nor the teachers could work amid the excitement of election day. Mr. Pirani (chairman) moved as aii amendment that the action of- the chairman in protesting against the use. of the schools on election day when other buildings arc available, be endorsed, also that the schools remain open. The amendment was carried bv ive to three.
