Wool.—Arrivals, 144,500 bales; forwarded to manufacturers, 42,000 bales; available, 28,500 bales. AUCKLAND WOOL SALES. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Wednesday. There was a very large bench of buyers at the opening of the wool sales to-day, when 6138 bales were offered. The wool was sound and wall grown, but lighter than at the corresponding sale year. Competition was very . brisk. Values ruled lower than at the opening sale last season, but the drop was not as great as was aixpected. Good wools sold well at a penny to three half-pence lower; other descriptions about a penny lower than last year. Prices ranged as follows: Shropshire and Romney, 9d to 9%d; Merino and Crossbred, 7 J / 2 d to 7%d; inferior and stained, G'/ a d; lambs' wool, 7d.
