NO LICENSE AND BUSINESS.
'MEETINGS IN MASTERTON. By Telegraph—Press Association. Masterton, Last Night. At a public meeting addressed in the Masterton Town Hall to-night by Rev. R. S. Gray, of Christchurch, a resolution, alleged to have been passed by business men to the effect that Nolicense in Masterton had been a failure was traversed by the chairman and Rev. Gray. The names of persons responsible for the resolution were read from the platform, and it was asserted that five out of eight signatories to the document containing the resolution were those of persons interested financially and otherwise in the trade.
At a meeting of the Masterton Borough Council to-night the following resolution was carried, liem con: ''That this Council emphatically protests against the unfair and malicious attempts made by a section of (lie public, vide an Evening Post advertisement under date November 2. to damage the credit of our town, such statements being contrary to fuel; and, further, we arc satisfied the business people recognise that, financially stul commercially. Masterton never held a firmer position."
