Mutton.—The market is quiet hut ! firm. The demand has .been chiefly for ; heavy weights. Canterbury -Ji/d, North j Island 3%d. 1 Lamb.-The market is dull, with ( scarcely -any demand. Quotations show ;a weaker tendency, though prias are . nomi'ially unchanged, viz., Canterbury | Oil, oilier than Canterbury 4%d. '■ Beef.—The market continues dull. . Trade in frozen beef is reduced to a : minimum, and isolations are nominal. | New Zealand hinds 3'/,d, fores 2%d. j Butter.—The market has recovered ' and there is belter demand. The butter • ex s.s. Kuapchu arrived in good conjditkm. It was very line in quality, and ;soM very freely at 130s. Danish 1355, j Siberian 120s, Australian 127:-, Arg.:iii tiii-a (new season's) 12os.
Cheese.—The market is quiet but linn, ami the demand is getting .better. Canadian 08s to 71?, according to quality.
Hemp.—The market is quiet, but moderate business is being done. There I is better demand for forward shipments. New Zealand good fair on spot £ II) las, fair grade £lB 15s, fair current Manila £2O os. The output from Manila for the week was 20.000 bales. .. j Coekstfoot Seed'.—The market is firm, .with a hardening tendency. Wheat.—The market is very quiet and nothing is being done. New Zealand long-herried ex granary (per quarter of 4961b.), 3vss Od, shore-berried 3is (new crop). Oats.—The market is firm, owing to' reduced supplies. New Zealand short sparrowbills ex granary (per quarter of 3941b.), 22s Od; Danish (per quarter of 3201b.), 19s. Beans.—The market remains firm. There is only a small quantity on hand. New Zealand f.a.q. (new crop), per 5041b., 33s Od. i Peas.—The market is steady, but there is no demand. New Zealand partride,. ..per 5041b., 39s Od. Business has, been done with new crep, Marcb t« April, at 38s Od. Wool.—The market, is steady a;)d' prices, are well maintained. Cun-tilt, quotations for Bradford tops: 3fi's (low crossbreds), Is o%d; 40's (low e.rossbreds), Is Id; 44' a (medium crossbreds), Is ly 4 d; 50's (half-breds). Is (id: ofi's (quarterbred-s), Is I'/UA; 00's (merinos), 2s Id. Pork.—The market is quiet and small business doing at current quotation, 4%d. HIDE MARKET.
