Thy music is by Madame Liza. Lehmann, the graceful comI poser whose work for the concert platform has gained her an abiding popularity. Sergeant Time, a policeman of average intelligence, who has dared to raise his eyes to a certain Lady liiekenhall, is staggered by the news that he is heir to a huge fortune left by his brother i !in Australia. "What's it come out at?" I gasps the almost speechless lirue. "About CIO.OOO a year," says the solicitor. The sergeant lias to clutch the table for support. "But you will lose all the monev," the other explains, "unless you become an inspector." The humor of the story consists in the series of ( mishaps into which Drue falls in his el'- I forts to fulfil this condition—an ambition in which he is cheerfully assisted by C-rooke, Stubbs, a criminal whom the good-natured policeman has befriendod. The management state that the production will be presented exactly as it is ! being stagpd in the metropolitan centres.
