THE EGMONT SHOW.
■* It would be seen on reference to the list published yesterday that the entries for the Egmont annual show arc. considering- the late season, very satisfactory. To secure this result the responsible oll'icials have made enthusiastic efforts. In a district that is making rapid strides in connection with fa.rming matters an increased interest in the society's welfare and its annual show is only a natural sequence. But undoubtedly the marked advancement and development, generally in pastoral affairs throughout the district is in a great measure due to the activities of the Egmont Association. That the outlook for the coming show is so promising is a mutter for congratulation to all concerned. The society is in a nourishing condition, no fewer than 13!) new members and one life member having been added since the annual meeting in May last, and the membership is now up to about 740—a record. In addition to the assured high quality display in stock sections, the home indus- f tries division promises to be of great in-' tercst by reason of its large entries, and) the ring events should also prove very attractive, some splendid southern horses competing. The usual side-shows will Ikj present in good force. AH indications arc of a promising order, and under favorable weather conditions this week's! carnival should easily surpass any held] previously.
